Biography
Ioana is an energetic and creative teacher, passionate about education and the well-being of her students.
Regarding her professional qualifications, she started her higher education at Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca.
With a BA degree in Romanian and English language and literature, followed by an MA in British Cultural Studies and a PhD in contemporary Romanian literature. During her university years, she was also enrolled in a pedagogical course that allowed her to learn about children’s psychology and about different teaching methods. Thus, her two pedagogical certificates attest her knowledge of children’s development stages, of different types of curriculum and of teaching techniques.
Soon after completing her studies, she decided to apply what she had learned and to become a teacher, fulfilling consequently one of her childhood dreams. For more than 6 years she has had different teaching experiences in Romania and abroad, which allowed her to improve her teaching skills. She started her teaching career at “Emil Racoviță” National College in Cluj-Napoca as a teacher of English. She also taught Romanian as a foreign language at UMF Cluj-Napoca for one year. Afterwards, she decided to go for an international experience and she moved to Denmark, Aarhus, where she worked as a substitute teacher and as a teaching assistant in an IB school, Aarhus International School, for 1 year and a half. It was a great experience because she had the chance to learn a lot about another school system, which focuses on the importance of curiosity, play and creativity in the learning process.
She is happy to be back home now and to be part of Royal School in Transylvania. She looks forward to continuing to inspire her students to reach their full potential and to discovering together the beauty of Romanian language and literature.
